Curriculum for Standard and Elite Weeks

Note 1: Exact times of curriculum activities may vary due to inclement weather conditions. In addition, professional player appearances may replace some scheduled activities. The curriculum may also be adjusted based on campers' progress and experience. Technical skills will be emphasized for less experienced players. Advanced and elite players will be exposed to a more challenging combination of technical and tactical skills.
Note 2:
Players will have an opportunity to take a short water or snack break between sessions. On hot days, the players will be strongly urged to replenish every ten or fifteen minutes. On days where the temperature approaches or exceeds 95 degrees F or in case of inclement weather, we will be inside the Fitness and Athletic Center Building, or classrooms (L-Building) at Howard Community College.

Every Day:

8:30 - 8:45 Assemble in Fitness and Athletic Center Building
8:45 - 9:00 Warm-up and stretches
9:00 Morning field sessions begin
11:45-1:15 Swimming, lunch, videos at Howard Community College
2:15 Warm-up and stretches (Elite Week sessions begin earlier and may not include swim time every day)
2:30 Afternoon field sessions begin
4:00 Pick-up
4:00  - 6:30 Optional after-care in Howard Community College Room TBD
Monday
Theme: Individual Attacking And Defending Skills
8:45 Introductions
9:00 Soccer Aerobics
9:15 1 v 1 Attacking skills (including Coervers)
10:15 1 v 1 Defensive principles
2:00 DC United Player Appearance (day and time subject to change)
3:00 1 v 1 Tournament
Tuesday
Theme: Passing and receiving (trapping)
9:00 Passing technique
9:45 Passing games (4v2, 5v2, etc.)
10:30 Receiving technique
2:30 4 v 4 (or 4 v 4 + 2, etc.)
Wednesday
Theme: Finishing
9:00 Finishing techniques
9:45 Finishing games
2:15 Break-aways and volleys
2:30 Scrimmages
Thursday
Theme: Heading and crossing
9:00 Heading techniques
9:45 Heading games
10:30 Crossing and finishing
2:30 scrimmage

Friday
Theme: Applying what we have learned

We may incorporate some special striker activities in session 4 from 9-10 am and 10-11 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will offer these additional activities based on camper interest:_

Shooting/finishing
Volleying
Crossing and finishing
Corners and penalty kicks
Heading technique for attackers (older group)
